'Liking' a post or comment tells another member you enjoyed their post. 'Hugging' a post or comment tells another member you are supporting them.
To "like" or "hug" a post, comment, story, or photo, select the heart or thumbs-up icon. After selecting a "like" or "hug" you will see the heart icon and the thumbs-up icon darken in color. A number count will also appear once you’ve liked or hugged a comment or post.
